Learn MoreHow Pasadena fits our calendar
Pasadena is a long drive from Sherman Oaks, so Pasadena work is planned by the week rather than the day, often paired with Altadena. Owners here usually want an old chimney kept, and river rock or clinker brick cannot be matched from stock. We test a mortar mix on a hidden spot first, so the repointing date is booked with the right material ready. Much of Pasadena was built before chimneys had steel inside, and the 1987 Whittier Narrows earthquake cracked brick across the area. We check the top few feet of the stack and the crown during the summer, so any repair is done before the rains.
When to Book
Summer for an inspection on an older stack, so any repair has time before the rains.
When Repairs Go In
Repointing on river rock or clinker brick goes in once the test mortar has set and matched.
What We Check First
The top few feet of the stack and the crown, where older unreinforced brick takes earthquake damage first.
Same Day, Next Door
Visits in Old Town Pasadena, South Pasadena, Altadena often share the day with Pasadena.
